The form of a composition has usually been more or less free in my works. I have let the form in a way find it’s own shape after an organic compositional process. However in this case I decided to do otherwise. First I composed a very strict and detailed predetermined form. The result was a kind of a mould in which I then had to cast the music. This task wasn't as easy as it might sound. The music had to be forged very carefully that it would finally fit the predetermined form, hence the title 'Forged'.

Die Struktur einer Komposition ist immer mehr oder weniger frei in meinen Werken gewesen. Ich habe die Form selbst nach dem organischen Kompositionsprozess entstehen lassen. In diesem Fall allerdings habe ich mich anders entschieden. Erstmals habe ich eine strenge vorbestimmte Form komponiert. Das Resultat war wie eine Form, in die ich die Musik gegossen habe. Diese Aufgabe ist nicht so leicht wie sie erscheinen mag. Die Musik sollte sehr genau geschmiedet werden, so dass es der vorbestimmten Form passte. Daher kommt der Titel des Werkes: „Forged“ (Geschmiedet).

Teoksen muoto on ollut useimmiten enemmän tai vähemmän vapaa sävellyksissäni. Olen ikään kuin antanut muodon löytää oman hahmonsa orgaanisen sävellysprosessin seurauksena. Tämän teoksen kohdalla päätin kokeilla kuitenkin jotakin muuta. Sävelsin ensimmäiseksi hyvin tiukan ja yksityiskohtaisen ennalta määrätyn muodon. Tuloksena oli eräänlainen muotti johon sitten valoin musiikin. Tämä tehtävä ei kuitenkaan ollut niin helppo kuin miltä se saattaa kuulostaa. Musiikki piti takoa hyvin tarkasti, että se lopulta mahtui ennalta määrättyyn muotoonsa; tästä teoksen otsikko "Forged" (Taottu).
