The work Dreamgate, composed for two toy pianos and tape, deals with the transition from the waking state to the world of dreams. The music tells the story of a child who is falling asleep while listening to the melodies of a music box and her mother’s lullaby. The repetitive sounds of the music box and the calming singing work together as a gateway to the dream world. After the child has fallen asleep the sounds of the music box continue in a dream, but now in an altered form. The mother’s song also returns as a recollection.
Das Werk „Dreamgate”, komponiert für zwei Toy Pianos und Tonband, handelt vom Übergang vom Wachzustand in die Traumwelt. Die Musik erzählt die Geschichte eines Kindes, das dabei ist einzuschlafen, während es den Melodien einer Spieluhr und dem Wiegenlied seiner Mutter lauscht. Die wiederholenden Klänge der Spieluhr und der Gesang der Mutter werden zum Tor in die Traumwelt. Nachdem das Kind eingeschlafen ist, setzen sich die Klänge der Spieldose fort, jedoch in einer veränderten Form. Auch der Gesang der Mutter kommt als eine Erinnerung zurück.
